Liviu Antonesei (born 1953) teaches Psychology and Educational Sciences at the Al. I. Cuza University in Jassy. He is a member of the Romanian PEN Club. He is the founder and president of Timpul (The Time) cultural review. A poet, essayist, prose writer, and sociologist, he is also one of Romania’s most respected journalists, having over the years contributed to all the country’s most important newspapers. He made his debut as an author in 1988 with the book Semnele timpului (Signs of the Times).
